Bernardita has worked for more than 15 years in consultancy and defense on copyright and similar rights, invention patents, trademarks, industrial designs and other intellectual assets, and she has participated in key trials in Chile.
During the first years of her professional career, she worked as an associate in the litigation area at Alessandri & Cía. a renowned law firm in Santiago, Chile, acting on behalf of clients in order to protect their intellectual rights before civil and arbitration courts.
Having completed her Master of Intellectual and Industrial Property and New Technologies at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2012), she joined Carey, one of the country’s largest law firms, as part of the intellectual property litigation area, where she provided clients with counselling on the strategic protection of artistic and industrial creations, and she participated in trials of high technical complexity.
In 2019, she joined the National Institute of Industrial Property as Deputy Director of Trademarks, Geographical Indications and Appellations of Origin, participating in legislative discussions on key topics in the area, and reviewing criteria on trademark registration and conservation.
