Marcela Román

Lawyer from the University of Chile. Master in Environmental Law, Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Law Degree in Spain, Master in Access to the Legal Profession, UNED. Master in Data Protection, Transparency and Access to Information, Universidad CEU San Pablo. Member of the Madrid Bar Association (ICAM), expert in Personal Data Protection.

Marcela has worked as a legal advisor for more than 15 years in International Law and Public Law matters. She was legal advisor in the Border Crossing Division of the Ministry of Interior and Public Security of the Republic of Chile, participating in major international projects such as the installation of the new Los Libertadores Border Crossing, Dákar coordination (2013 and 2014) and Patagonian Race©.

In 2014, Marcela moved to Madrid, Spain, where she currently practices and begins a path of specialization and development in legal areas of growing expansion and application. This is how she decided to focus on personal data consulting, studying a Master’s Degree in Personal Data Protection at the San Pablo CEU University (2019-2020), which she completed with academic excellence and an honors degree in Auditing.

She also has specific training in the area thanks to her participation in the Executive Data Protection Delegate Program (2021-2022) at Centro de Estudios Garrigues, which culminates in her obtaining official certification as a Data Protection Officer in accordance with the Spanish Data Protection Agency’s scheme.
